 Ezpcdets

A SysTray application that allows end-users to quickly and easily access PC and network information for their system

Introduction

Ezpcdets is a small utility that displays LAN1 \ WAN address when the mouse cursor is hovered over the Systray icon...

...and a bubbletip when the SYStray icon is clicked will display the following:

  1. [ Domain ]* \ Computer name \ Username \ OS version (including service pack #)
         * If PC is not joined to a domain, the domain name will match the computer name
  2. Sysdrive free / total space
  3. Sysmem load % / total

Simple tool to put on users PC's in case you want to remote in and need to have this info in order to do it.

It's Windows-based, open source (GNU), and solely written, maintained, hosted, and supported by me, Sean Shrum. Source code is written with AutoIT (.au3) and the most recent version can be found via the source link in the navbar above.  If you're just looking for the latest binary build, it can be downloaded from the binary link in the navbar above.

Background

I got the idea for this tool while I has at UCI Medical Center.  The help desk used remote access tools to troubleshoot PCs but half their time was spent walking users thru obtaining their IP address via the command line with IPCONFIG /ALL.

Usage

Place a shortcut to the program in the all users startup folder (or create a entry in the HKLM Run key to automatically launch the app.  This will give the user a icon (like the one at the top of this page) that they can click on that will display the system info matrix.
