$domain$ :: $subdomain$ :: Support & Legal
If you should have any questions concerning programs or scripts, including bug reports, suggestions, etc., please read this page *first*.  Also, direct any questions regarding legalities pertaining to any programs or scripts here.

Support

Before submitting email for support, make sure that you have the most recent version of the script, module, or application.  Support is only provided on the most current versions.  There is only one of me here so my time is stretched very thin.

Secondly, please read all the documentation available to you on this site and abroad.  Great pains have been taken to document as much as possible to help you solve your problems in a timely manner.

If after this point you don't find an answer to the question you are proposing, you may then send a support request to me either thru the script/app 'HELP' or 'SUPPORT' option (prefered), or directly at $email$.  Support will be provided to discuss enhancement requests, bug reports, and all things pertaining to the operation of programs and scripts that I've created and host from shrum.net.  I'll make every attempt to solve your problem but make no guarantees that every issue can or will be solved.  I only state that I'll investigate any issues that are brought to my attention and attempt to correct them.  Please be as thorough as possible in your requests by, whenever possible, including links to data sources, copies of the script calls, exact error messages you're receiving, etc.

Donations

Firstly, thanks in advance for even reading this page and entertaining your generosity. All my scripts and applications are free, I do accept donations for them. I hope they make your computing experience that much more enjoyable.  This section will discuss the why's and how's of the donation process

Monetary donations are discouraged in lieu of liquid DP (Dr. Pepper).  This can be facilitated via Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. using their online stores and sent to me via their shipping methods to the following address:

Gracious Script Kiddie (or Sean Shrum, either is good)
1715 S. Nutwood St.
Anaheim, CA 92804
USA

The scripts and programs I write come from my own need or desire to create them.  Once I have a running core app, I adjust the project for end-user interaction (GUI design, command line options, code and user documentation, etc.) in an effort to make the project more user friendly. This process takes extra time.  This then all gets hosted off my own website in a clean and concise manner for distribution to people like yourself.

While most (if not all) of my software is open source and released under the GNU license (as freeware), I accept donations mainly for the following reasons:

  1. All my scripts and programs I host on my own (no sponsors or ad banners).
  2. In an effort to reimburse my time and effort either in creating the product and in supporting them.
  3. Reduces my restocking fees...keeps the fridge supplied and the noggin lubricated with Dr. Pepper ;-)
  4. To motivate me to make better software (and isn't that what truly matters?)

Legal

In this world of "sue me, sue you" court dramas, it almost goes without saying, however...

The long version...

Any software provided by shrum.net is done so in a "as is" condition. Any expressed or implied warranties, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed.  Source code that is provided to you free of charge, unless specified, falls under the GNU GPL license and may be modified by you.  In no event shall shrum.net, it's owners, or its contributors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, procurement of substitute goods or services; loss of use, data, or profits; or business interruption, or death) however caused and on any theory of liability, whether in contract, strict liability, or tort (including negligence or otherwise) arising in any way out of the use of the software or scripts, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

The short version...

Blah, blah, blah...don't cry to me if something breaks that you got for free.  You've been warned! :-p
